Letter from Chesapeake Utilities Corporation
President and CEO Jeff Householder

To Our Customers:

I am writing on behalf of our entire Chesapeake Utilities Corporation family to assure you that the health, wellness and safety of our employees, customers and communities is our top priority. We have been closely monitoring public advisories and updates, and have taken steps to prepare for the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19).

Our thoughts are with all those who have been affected by the virus. We recognize the personal impact and uncertainty this situation may have on our customers.

We believe it is important for us to let our customers know about our planning and preparedness. In light of the growing concern with the spread of the COVID-19, we have activated our company-wide Pandemic Response Plan, which includes:

  • Following the guidance and recommendations of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), local government and health authorities and relevant industry agencies.
  • Identifying critical functions to minimize service interruptions.
  • Identifying key employees to keep critical functions operating.
  • Addressing critical supplies, parts and inventory.
  • Reducing non-essential travel.
  • Limiting large gatherings of employees.

As a precautionary measure to limit the spread of the virus in our communities, we are also limiting access to our buildings. Non-essential contractors, vendors, and other visitors are not permitted to enter Company facilities, and walk-in customer access to any of our locations will be temporarily suspended as of close of business on Monday, March 16th. We will alert customers when these offices will reopen.

Also, we have launched an informative Pandemic Response landing page (CHPKResponds.com) for Chesapeake and all of its subsidiaries that are dedicated to keeping our customers informed about important service updates, helpful resources and alternative bill payment options. We are taking several steps to assist our customers during the Covid-19 Pandemic. To minimize potential financial hardships, the Company’s regulated businesses are suspending service disconnections and waiving late payment fees until at least May 1, 2020.

Our Pandemic Response Plan ensures that the critical energy delivery services we provide our customers continue to operate during the event or be restored as quickly as possible.

Our Pandemic Response Taskforce (which is composed of individuals from various organizational units and reports to our senior leadership team) meets daily and is responsible for coordinating efforts across the Company.

We appreciate the opportunity to share this information with you as we address the challenges ahead.

We understand that the natural gas, propane and electric services we deliver are essential to your homes, businesses and industries. It is equally important to us that we also take whatever steps we can to help protect the health and well-being of our customers, communities and employees.

We appreciate your confidence and trust in our actions during this unique time.

Sincerely
